Caddo Common Park Performance Series: "ROSTER REVELRY"

Recognizing the vibrant Performing Arts community as essential to Northwest Louisiana's cultural landscape, the Shreveport Regional Arts Council (SRAC) invites Performing Artists to submit proposals for performances at Caddo Common Park, free to the public.

 

PROGRAM OVERVIEW:

SRAC seeks to encourage and support Northwest Louisiana Performing Artists through this ongoing opportunity. Selected proposals will become SRAC-produced events, with Artists receiving stipends based on the size of their group and the type/length of performance.

 

APPLICATION PROCESS:

  • Applications will be accepted through Submittable (https://srac.submittable.com).
  • The submission deadline for the first round of consideration is March 31, 2025, at 11:59 PM. Notifications will be sent by April 7, 2025.
  • All proposed performance dates should be scheduled after May 4, 2025.
  • Late, incomplete, handwritten, hand-delivered, faxed, emailed, or mailed applications will not be accepted.

 

REQUIRED MATERIALS:

  • Artist/group biography and performance history
  • Description of the proposed performance or event
  • Technical requirements and setup needs
  • Preferred dates and times for performance
  • Estimated duration of performance
  • Number of performers
  • Video or audio samples of previous performances (if available)
  • Proposed budget including Artist stipend request

 

ELIGIBILITY:

  • Applicants must currently be ROSTER ARTISTS residing in Northwest Louisiana.
  • Applicants must be registered on the free Culturalyst Directory (https://nwla.culturalyst.com).
  • All Performing Arts disciplines are welcome, including but not limited to: music, dance, theater, storytelling, poetry, and interdisciplinary performances.
  • Proposed performances must be appropriate for diverse, all-ages audiences.

 

 

SELECTION CRITERIA:

  • Artistic merit and quality
  • Feasibility within the park setting
  • Ability to engage diverse audiences
  • Representation of Northwest Louisiana's cultural diversity
  • Reasonable budget requirements
  • Proposals will be juried by a diverse panel of Arts Professionals

 

COMPENSATION:

  • Selected Artists will receive stipends based on group size: 
  1. ONE performer - $500
  2. TWO performers - $1000
  3. THREE or more performers - $1500
  • Supporting production equipment is limited to what the Performer(s) brings, or to what Shreveport Regional Arts Council has on-hand.
  • Artists will have use of the Caddo Common Park equipment as listed here: Equipment List
  • Any additional equipment required will be the responsibility of the artist.
  • SRAC will handle marketing and promotion for all performances.

Non-matching grants of up to $1,000 are available to assist artists who have been juried or invited to present their art outside of Northwest Louisiana.

Funds are to be used to assist Artists with all related travel expenses, to include personal travel costs as well as shipping and insurance costs for exhibitions. Art Ambassador funds are designed to promote Shreveport’s artistic strengths by highlighting Shreveport artists. Applicants must provide evidence of selection through a jury process and an invitation. Art Ambassador grants are non-matching.

INSTRUCTIONS: 

SRAC encourages professional artists residing in NWLA to apply for Artist Call Entry Fee Reimbursement. This is for artist calls outside of the NWLA area. Reimbursement is allowed for up to $100 per year. Receipts must be turned at the time of application for reimbursement.
