An Open Call to Artists

(Region 7 and LSU Faculty and Students Associated with LSU)

In association with the LSU Health Center for Medical Education, the Shreveport Regional Arts Council announces a 2nd Call to Artists for murals to be installed in the newly completed LSU Medical School in Shreveport, LA. We ask that you submit concept drawings and/or images of your past mural work in order for us to commission you for your work.

GOAL: These murals will be installed at the LSU Health Center for Medical Education in addition to other acquisitions and commissioned artworks. The building has designated space for 1-4 mural installations in a variety of sizes.

There are no firm requirements for themes in the artwork. If you would like a theme to work from, we are focusing on:

  • Art could reference education or medical sciences
  • Pieces may reference some of the many “offerings” of Shreveport or Louisiana culture
  • The concept “Aiming High”
  • One mural will likely land in the fitness center
